James D. Petit has served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Overseas Citizens Services within the Consular Affairs Bureau of the U.S. Department of State since November 2010.
He served two previous tours at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, as well as at the American Institute in Taiwan and the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara, Mexico. The current US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova is William H. Moser since 2011.
